How is it possible that our baby Isabella Avery McWhorter is now 4 years old? I still remember the moment when I finally got to hold her tiny little self in my arms, and what a proud dad Drew was snapping pics of his first little bundle of joy. And while for some time I have gotten by with calling her my little big girl, I am now certain I must drop the little because she is nothing but big girl these days--
Daddy and I always like to have a special birthday celebration with just us and the Bella, and Aubrey soon, on that actual day she was born.
Since Bella's birthday fell in the middle of a week and I felt like she could use a little mommy time, I took the day off and we spent it all together. Starting it at the doctor's office--
Doesn't she look just so big and beautiful in this pic?!
And yes, I am the mom who has her just turn four year old daughter get shots as part of her birthday celebrations.
Figured it could only get better after a doctor's visit…right?
She was a trooper with the shots, but even better with the developmental assessment.
So it is upside down, but I'll give you the gist---
At Bella's age when they ask you to draw a person, it needs to have 4 body parts for 4 years old. Hers has way more--, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, 2 arms, 2 legs, head, you get the idea. Below that she was asked to ID the two items drawn by the Dr, and she of course said square and cross (love that it was a cross and not a T). Then she was asked to mimic it at the bottom. And then the two lines.
Needless to say I was a proud mommy!
Next was breakfast, of Bella's choice, and she chose a sprinkle doughnut from Dunkin Doughnuts.
Then it was off to Build a Bear. And while we had to wait exceptionally longer than expected since they were late to open on this particular day, Bella was VERY PATIENT, and her birthday surprise and first trip ever to Build a Bear was a huge success.
Then it was on to our evening celebration with Daddy. And Aubrey too--though it appears I didn't manage to get her in a picture.
So of course it was pizza, Bella's pick again, and princess cupcakes for dessert.
Then it was time to open the special card from Daddy.
His messages are always so special.
GOLF CLUBS?!
Leftie golf clubs, to be exact.
Considering she had been asking to play golf and have her own set for some time, she was definitely pumped was about her special gift.
And it wouldn't have been complete if they didn't manage to hit a few balls before bedtime.
Bella's fourth birthday was definitely special. And while I love celebrating these special days with her and our family, a little bit of me is sad to see her grow a little older each year.
What a joy it is to have this sassy, brave, independent little girl in our lives. So thankful we were blessed with her four years ago, and looking forward to see what this next year of her life holds in store for all of us.
