A Paci Intervention

Thanks to shocking news at Bella's first dentist appointment this morning, an immediate intervention took place involving B and her paci.  These days Bella has only been a friend of the paci at nap time, bedtime, and the car.  And while we did have plans to say farewell to our dear friend one day, we did not quite expect it to be this soon.  Previous plans had been for a visit from the paci fairy, but since Bella wasn't quite old enough to understand that, we followed some advice from the dentist instead.

Nap time started with our regular routine.  Sound Machine on, check.  Diaper changed, check.  Mo-Mo in hand, check.  But before we started our book reading, I had a talk with Baby B about her paci.  I told her this, "We do not want her teeth to get sick, so Dr. Ray says we can't sleep with the paci anymore."  My resolve was letting her choose between an extra blankie or baby doll to sleep with, both of which she wanted nothing to do with.  In the end, I chose the blankie for her, and laid her in bed with it after reading a few books and handing out our usual kisses to our animal friends.

And after 15 minutes of crib talking, and another 30 of crib crying, Bella is FINALLY sleeping.

So say goodbye to Bella and her paci-loving days, and hello to our paci-free big girl.
