St Baldricks!

Well many of you know that Drew has was growing his hair out to shave for St.Baldricks… in an effort to raise money for cancer research in hopes that one day, a cure will be found and people both young and old will no longer have to suffer from this deadly disease.  I am so proud of my husband for taking on this cause this year, and really taking an active effort in fundraising.  I loved seeing him put his all into it, and it was great to see him put his heart into something that has impacted so many.

Well, March 11th rolled around and he followed through with it after nearly raising double the amount of his goal $1,000, I believe his final grand total was $1,765.  Thanks to all of you who donated!  Drew and I were both highly impressed with the grand total--and so glad he was able to exceed his goal, by so much!

Bella was super excited to see her daddy cut his hair--as she called it.  And we were even more excited that Daddy was in the first time slot--thanks to Mommy's old KCH connections.

He also managed to be in the front row, which was super great for pics after I managed to move myself in the crowd so I could see him around the guest speakers.

I can't really put words together to explain that feeling I had while they shaved his head and I listened to the head oncologist from KCH speak.  My heart still aches for the many patients and families I cared for when I worked at KCH--especially those who did not win their battles, and seeing him up there on that stage, and then feeling his bald head afterwards, just kind of brought it all home for me again.

It is UNREAL what a BIG difference it was once his head was shaved.  And I think the only way you could really see it and believe it was when these two pics are side by side.  I guess I didn't realize how shaggy his hair had gotten, and the fact he didn't fix it that day made it even more dramatic.  And I must admit, I do LOVE that shaved head of his, way more than I ever thought I would.

It was an amazing feeling at the end, and I didn't even shave my head,
once he was bald and knowing all the money he had raised.

And Bella too, was so proud of her daddy.
She just couldn't resist kissing his freshly shaved, fuzzy head.

I love you Drew, and I am so thankful to have a husband who will sacrifice his hair to raise money for a cause so close to my heart.  I admire the effort you put behind fundraising, and I hope that you will be able to get a team together in years to come, so help support this AWESOME cause.
