DERBY WEEK

This was the first year we have really gotten involved in the various Derby activities going on around in preparation for the big horse race on the first Saturday in May of every year.

It all started with a jockey relay race at Bella's school.

And thanks to her Grammy, who works well under pressure, she had a super cute outfit to wear for the big race at her school.  Doesn't she look like such a BIG girl?

Oh and they had a Derby Hat event at school too--

Then it was on to the Pegasus Parade which included Grammy and Grandmom, and a handful of front row seats!

Our seats were perfect because Bella was able to play in the street as the parade went by.

She loved all the bands and floats, and giant balloons, but she also loved the friends she made.

You should have heard her with these kiddos.  She may have been the youngest, and not to mention didn't know them more than a few minutes, before she was bossing them around.  She even convinced them all to join in a game of toss.  The oldest boy in the top picture, came and asked me if he could play with her, and I said you have to ask her.  And when he did, she said yes, but told him "your hands our dirty."  So he immediately wiped them off on his pants.  Then she instructed him to sit down like her so she could throw it.  Then what does she do, but refuse to throw it to him as he gives this sweet, pleading smile.  She is such a tease, even at the age of two.
Bella loved when Grammy got up to dance with her and the bands in the street.

Bella loved taking in the front row sights with Grandmom.

So glad we were able to make it to this Derby event.  It was so much fun seeing the joy on Bella's face as she played, sang, and watched till the very end of the parade at about 8pm.
