What was this mommy thinking?

When Bella went to the doctor on Saturday to determine why she was so sick, the doctor informed me that she could be eating whatever I ate.  Forgive me, but I was a bit skeptical.  I mean, really, WHATEVER I ate?  But the doctor said that I could include anything I had on my plate in her diet.  So my favorites like peanut butter, salmon, and ice cream, yes ice cream, were all possibilities.  She even gave me some scientifc reason to support it, but of course now, I can't remember that reason.

So wouldn't you know me, I planned my meals for the week thinking of our little baby girl.  Here she is enjoying her first "Mommy and Me Meal."

Doesn't she look thrilled, and so grown up I might add, to be enjoying her first meal of salmon, mashed potatoes, and cheerios?

This is how she really felt though.  Apparently all the different textures were a bit much for her, and she broke down within minutes of my gourmet dinner attempt.

Maybe we'll stick to just veggies and fruit for a bit longer.

So your pedi gave you the okay for peanut butter? Ours wanted us to wait until at least 2. She also wanted us to wait on eggs. I wonder why there seems to be such a discrepancy between docs on what is and is not age appropriate food.

Doctors really did vary which makes it so hard as a parent because it really is about who you ask. In the end though, I just have to tell myself that my decision is the best one--as long as it isn't effecting the longterm health of my little girl. Bella has tried eggs, and loves them, but we are holding off on peanut butter bc of a peanut allergy in our family. My hope is she will be ok in that dept to0 though, because I love peanut butter way too much! I will probably try it out around a year.
