If you are a member of Southeast, or have ever attended the church, you might have noticed the CHILD ID box that floats in the bottom the screens during Saturday and Sunday Sermons. This ID is a special number that each child receives when they are placed in the nursery. So if there is problem, your number flashes on the screen, and you go pick up your child. That easy. Thing is, Drew and I have never actually seen Bella's number on the screen. Until today.
As I am diligently taking notes as Kyle, one of our pastors, discusses the poor choices of Simon in Luke 7, I am suddenly woken from my daze as Drew states, "That's her." I had no idea what he meant, but quickly he said, "that's her number," and I knew. Bella's number was on the screen and we had to go rescue her.
As we walked quickly out of the sanctuary, and flew down the steps, we couldn't help but discuss the strangeness of this event, because, well, Bella is not one who cries and misses mommy and daddy when she has other kids around to distract her. But as we neared the room, my underlying fear became clearer as I saw a nurse leaving her suite. I kept this observation to myself, hoping not to freak Drew out.
On arrival we learned, Bella had a little accident. Being her curious self, she decided she was going to squeeze between the table and wall. Well, wouldn't you know it, the space was just a bit tight, and as she squeezed through, she dragged her face along the table only to result in a little scrape along her temple. Now this sounded more like our girl, considering this is not her first injury due to her curiosity. But oh, we were so thankful she was ok!
In the end, we found out she had only cried for a mere 30 seconds following the injury, and though the nurse checked her out twice, it drew no blood, and most of the redness was gone after her nap at home. Guess we will have to catch the end of that sermon another time.
