Once home for the night, we had to get a start on some of our own traditions. First, it was sprinkling the reindeer food, to ensure Santa's reindeer didn't overlook our house this year.
Then it was leaving some cookies behind for Santa.
Which sounds a lot easier than it was.
Bella hand selected and placed the plate by the fireplace, so Santa would spot them as soon as he slipped down the chimney.
And that was probably where we should have stopped.
Because have her take a pic beside them was just too tempting.
And saddening, after she learned she couldn't eat any--mind you she had one already while we we picking out the perfect cookies.
A little reasoning from daddy made it all better.
Somehow, we did not manage to get a picture of the most important tradition that followed. Following bath time, Bella and I read "What is Christmas?" and "Room for a Little One." Two books that talk about the real meaning of Christmas and why we give gifts. I gotta make sure we get this on camera next year.
