A New Found Hobby

I have tried very hard to find a hobby that works for me, one that I love as much as Drew loves golfing-or even half as much. Unfortunately, knitting and crocheting were too time consuming for me, requiring too much effort and very little reward--considering I have spent hours trying to create a scarf with very little to show for it.

Sewing however, has stuck for several reasons. My mom spent much of her life sewing for herself as a teenager, and now sewing for others. As a child, she would make me beautiful frilly dresses, and I loved every single one. I have spent some time with my mom, where she has taught me more about her own passion and hobby of sewing. And below is one of my first creations for a baby. No, this is not a sign that I am having a girl, but rather a gift for a friend who did.Baby Bib

Reversible Baby Blanket

While I still have A LOT of learning to do with sewing, I believe that it could definitely be a hobby I pursue for the long haul. First off, the above items took about an hour to complete, including prep time, so that definitely beats knitting and better suites my lack of patience. But sewing also offers a lot of opportunity for me to share my joy with my friends, and even our own child. And just maybe, our child will reflect back on his or her own childhood one day and remember the items I so thoughtfully created with them in mind.
