The Perks of Knee Surgery

Ok, so when you think knee surgery, you probably don't consider all the perks that come with it beyond being waited on hand and foot, but after spending much of the past week caring for Drew, I have tried to maintain an optimistic outlook on it all as he continues to get better each day. Here is what I have come up with thus far:

1. All day movie marathons--including the following "The Day the World Stood Still," "17 Again," "The International," and our personal favorite, "I Love You, Man"
2. Sports marathons--We spent much of Saturday tucked in bed together, thanks to some sinus issues I was having, watching the U.S. Open and endless amounts of football, most importantly, Auburn Football. It truly was a family affair as I made sure to include Bella in the regular singing of the Auburn Fight Song and she earned a kiss from her Daddy for every touchdown Auburn made--considering the game ended in a mighty win, Isabella just may be Auburn's new lucky charm!
3. Shopping trips with your hubby--Though I firmly believe you never NEED a reason to go to Target, Drew needed to get out and Target was his request--and we wonder why I love this man? Who knew we would enjoy buying mouthwash, toothpaste and a few other essentials as much as we did!
4. Training for baby--thanks to Drew's four hour medicine schedule, I have had some great training for Bella and her feeding schedule when she arrives in November. I have begun to naturally wake up every four hours to be sure he gets his meds even before the alarm sounds.
5. iPhone Fun--Drew has enjoyed his new iPhone, and has had much time to explore the world of "Free Aps" downloading such crazy things as a Star Wars Lightsaber and paper wad throwing game--seriously! As well, as snapping random photos with his iPhone camera, the opening picture is such an example.
6.Caddy FINALLY loves Drew more than me--Caddy has continued to understand that his daddy is not 100%, so every morning he patiently waits outside his door until Drew is awake. Rarely will he leave Drew's side, and he is surely enjoying all the lovin' Drew is sharing with him in his downtime.
7. Comedy at its best--While this has nothing to do with Drew's recovery, the best part of his surgery for me was before he was pushed back into the operating room, but AFTER he received his "happy medicine." As the nurses checked his ID bracelet, asking him "When is your birthday," Drew proudly mumbled, "November 18th." The nurses were dumbfounded and a little concerned, considering Drew's bracelet said February 7th. But suddenly it clicked to me, that Drew had given them Isabella's expected birthday!! Glad to see he is still thinking about our baby in his time of need. I was literally in tears with laughter as they wheeled him off to surgery and he yelled back to me, "I'll send you an email!" Haha...still makes me laugh!

All in all, Drew and I have had the chance to spend some quality time together, and make plenty of memories that will never be forgotten, therefore I had to record a few of the standout moments here on this site.
