Our life the past week...

Well, we have made it through our first week of recovery following Drew's surgery. At times it has been a bit exhausting for me, and even more so for Drew, and we have both had our breakdowns. But the great thing is, is that Drew made it through surgery beautifully and we have had some wonderful support to help us get through it all! Turns out it was a torn ACL rather than a meniscus as well, and there was no damaged cartilage! The surgeon did a FABULOUS job and the incision site looks great--Drew let me be the first to see it, because I LOVE that kind of thing.

On the day of surgery, Drew's mom, Shari was there bright and early at 5:15 to help support Drew and provide me company during the wait of surgery. Afterwards, both his parents made it to our house ot ensure he got in the house, and up the stairs safely. That night, my parents were gracious enough to stop by and bring us dinner from Rafferty's, which allowed me to relax a bit more rather than making dinner on top of caring for Drew.

Over the course of the week, the support has continued. His mom continued to check in on him everyday so I could go back to work, and even took Caddy in for a few days to relieve some of the stress off of me. My parents have continued to help us with a nightly dinner, and even took Caddy for a walk to get out some of his energy in those first few days. We are so grateful to our family, and friends, who have gone out ouf their way to makes things a bit easier for us, and to help Drew's recovery along the way.

Now Drew has completed his first day of physical therapy, and did a great job of pushing himself to meet his goals. He is walking from the bed to the bathroom without crutches, and has made a few trips up and down the stairs with his crutches. While he has had much pain, he continues to push through it. And his drive to stay on top of his exercises and his need to constantly push himself more is impossible to ignore! Drew is determined to make the best out of his situation, and I believe firmly he will be an even better golfer and daddy to Isabella when this is all said and done. His flexibility for golf will definitely be improved thanks to all these stretching exercises and Bella will see what a devoted and hard working father she has, one that fights to overcome whatever path is laid for him.
