I wanted to take a little time, away from Bella--sorry B--to explain why Auburn, what's so special about that place?! Especially after subjecting you to several posts all about it. Well besides the fact that Drew and I are both graduates of this fine southern university, lived in this city for four years, the connection is deeper than our college degree. Auburn is the reason I LOVE football. I know, I cheered for four years in HS, but it never had the meaning and tradition with it then, as it did once I went to Auburn. Auburn represents a time for Drew and I when we gained our independence. We were challenged with daily and life altering struggles, but we persevered because of the support from our Auburn friends and family. And FAMILY is what it is really all about.
Auburn students and graduates represent a family. A family of people all across the United States, that bleed orange and blue. The amazingness of Auburn is you can go anywhere in the world, but you see that fancy AU on a baseball cap, immediately you can shout "War Eagle," and hear it directly in response. While I can say I did not know all 50,000 Auburn Fans in that stadium, surprised-I know, but regardless I felt like a part of a really big family, and forever will.
The Auburn Creed sums up why Auburn University is such a special place to Drew and I, and we hope, one day to Bella as well. I believe whole heartedly in this university and the standards it upholds for its students--standards that can be carried beyond the four or five years one spends at a university. And I will support any and all that are honored to be a part of this Auburn experience.
The Auburn Creed
I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work.
I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully.
I believe in honesty and truthfulness, without which I cannot win the respect and confidence of my fellow men.
I believe in a sound mind, in a sound body and a spirit that is not afraid, and in clean sports to develop these qualities.
I believe in obedience to law because it protects the rights of all.
I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all.
I believe in my Country, because it is a land of freedom and because it is my own home, and that I can best serve that country by "doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with my God."
And because Auburn men and women believe in these things, I believe in Auburn and love it.
