Hard at Work

The decor and bedding of our baby's room was a family affair, because I made the decision early on to sew each piece. And especially after I got a little inspiration from these Pottery Barn Kids curtains after finding out we were having a girl, I had no choice! Who could resist the cute monkeys on a pink background? And the opportunity to add a little flair of my own.

Of course, most of you know my sewing adventures don't expand far beyond baby blankets, hats, bibs and maybe a curtain or two here and there. Therefore sewing a ruffled bed skirt, double sided bumper pad with a ruffle trim, AND tie-up curtains might be a bit of a stretch. Thank goodness for my mom, because she had all the experience to keep me going! Goodness knows, I CANNOT THANK MY MOM ENOUGH for the time, support and direction she committed to this project. Not to mention patience--considering my definitive mental deadline and eagerness to do it "on my own!"

Unfortunately, I did not think to capture each step of the moment via camera, but here are a few highlights of the memories we made:

My mom was assigned to the important tasks like ironing and cutting. However here, she is helping me gather ruffles into our super frilly bed skirt. What a pro!

Here I am working diligently on the bed skirt, pre-ruffling efforts.

My dad even got in on the action as he covered a storage box to match her room.
Great job Dad!
