Then it was off to our appointment. I had no idea how long registration would take, so I wanted to get there with plenty of time. I figured 30 minutes before was good…though we ended up a good 10 minutes earlier than that in the end, so 40 minutes early total.
Bella had a great time taking it all in, and exploring the lobby with Grammy while I check her in. I had heard great things about the new location, but this was the first time I had seen it for myself. And it was pretty impressive from the child's perspective.
This wall below was pretty amazing, I will have to admit. At first glimpse it looked like a nice projected welcome image to the hospital, but once you tapped the wall, the letters turned into bubbles that floated down. And once close enough, could be popped with the tap of a toddler finger or hand.
Amazing! They really had a blast making the bubbles pop again, and again.
We were in the end, taken back 15 minutes earlier than our scheduled time slot. Which was awesome! And Bella was happy to jump on the bed and color while I spoke with the ultrasound tech. She was also pretty happy to inform the tech that, "You gonna take a picture of my beebo (bellybutton)." That's my girl!
I have to admit, I was pretty proud of how well she did during this procedure. Yes, I prepped her the night before, giving her all the info about the procedure in the friendliest kid terms I could think of and telling her about our visit to the special place to meet some special doctors. And during the procedure, I definitely felt a bit more like a child life specialist than her mom--which I think helped me appear a lot less worried from Bella's view than I truly was inside.
But truly, she followed the directions of the tech perfectly, they were able to get all the needed pics. She asked questions, looked at her kidneys on the monitor, and even asked me to hold her hand at one point--which is very rare for our little miss independent. But most importantly, everything was as clear and perfect as could be. Thank goodness!
And what better way to end the day than with a sucker, just like mommy promised!
Thank you all for your prayers!
The power of prayer is a beautiful thing, and we are so thankful we have so many prayerful people in our lives. And so thankful the test results came back clear, and we were able to erase all the worry from our minds.
