Reality Check

Results back from Bella's ultrasound 2 weeks ago were promising, unfortunately, a follow up this past Monday resulted in another positive test for UTI.  We received a phone call today from the doctor, getting back the lab results that said it was positive for a UTI, bacteria is pseudomonas!  This bacteria is not one you want to mess with, and after waiting for results this whole week, her pediatrician felt she needed to be placed on an antibiotic immediately. Because this is not a bacteria commonly seen in healthy kiddos, they called KCH for some advice, and were advised to give Bella an antibiotic typically prescribed to adults.

We are hoping and praying that this is the medicine that ends what is now 8 weeks of antibiotic treatment for UTIs.  More than anything we want this to be just a really yucky cluster of infections, and not signs of a bigger, underlying issue.  She will be on this medicine for 7 days, and at that point she will have a follow-up appointment.  Thank you ahead of time for your prayers, we will keep you posted!
