Generosity of Strangers

Being pregnant does draw some attention to you. Especially now that I am 8 months along and my belly is in full bloom, and my walk has turned into more of a waddle. While the random comments and baby questions were something I was prepared for, never did I expect the generosity of strangers that I have received.

Example 1, After a long Saturday out with my mom, we ended it at the vet's office to pick up our dogs from their regular bath and toe nail trim appointment. While waiting, I of course had to check out the restroom facilities, only to be sure they were clean and well maintained, not because I am pregnant and going to the bathroom nearly every hour. =) Well when I arrived, I suddenly discovered the line for the one person bathroom was three people long! Waiting was not an option, but I was determined to try. Well, to my surprise the woman in front of me generously offered to give up her spot saying--"I've been there, I understand."

Example 2, This one caught me by total surprise. After a trip through Kroger, and after unloading my groceries into the back of my SUV, I glanced around for the nearest cart return rack because I refuse to leave my cart just sitting in a parking space if I can help it. Well, to my dismay, it was not very close and I let out a small sigh, but began to walk. And as I took my first few steps, a nice older man walked up to me, and gently took my cart complementing me in the process, "You look very lovely today!" I couldn't help but thank him for his kind words, and eagerness to make my day a little easier. He took it all humbly, and then I watched him walk to his car, which was 2 aisles in the opposite direction of mine! Wow!

So to anyone who says that "people in today's world are just not like they use to be, and only care about themselves", I beg to differ. Because the simple efforts of these individuals really made me step back and look at how I can make an effort, even inf only a small one, to help those around me. And I hope that it does the same for each of you.
