Just another day of walking Caddy and Bella after a long day of work. And wouldn't you know we made it all the way to our driveway before being approached by a large bulldog, that was nearly the size of Caddy. The bulldog was as sweet as could be, but Caddy, as many of you know, was not a fan of him or most dogs for that matter. So here I am, baby in stroller, Caddy on his leash, screaming at the top of my lungs, "Help! Help! Someone please help!" I can only imagine what my neighbors thought. Finally, someone came to my rescue, and I was able to tuck Caddy inside the house through the laundry room door.
After a little investigation with our neighbor, and now Bella in my arms, we discovered the boxer was collarless, likely an older dog because of his hip displasia like habits, and definitely thirsty because he was panting like crazy. Well, I decided there wasn't much I could do, being home alone, dog with no leash, that I didn't recognize from our neighborhood, so I go to head in the garage door.
But wait!? What was the boxer doing? Oh he wanted to join the family in doors. Obviously, that was NOT an option. So instead, he decides to lay down in the back of the garage in a nice shaded area. Seriously! What was I suppose to do at this point? I try to nicely call him to my side in the driveway, Bella still in arms, laughing giddily at her new found dog friend, and he came obediently. But wouldn't you know that dog followed me right back to the door when I tried to sneak in. He was good.
Well, I finally succeeded when I decided my only tactic was to get him some water, and it was obvious he needed it. So I dodged in the house, grabbed a mixing bowl and filled it to the brim with water. And out, Bella and I went to give Boxer, this was his new name, some water. He drank it up quite fast. And lasted outside of my garage long enough for me to shut the garage door. My last fear was that he might decide to crawl under the door while it was closing, considering his sneakiness. Thankfully, he did not!
Why do crazy things like this happen when it is just me and Bella at home?
